Mission

Left Side is a group of artists working to unify San Francisco by supporting skateboarding, artists, and community. Left Side refers to the idea in the political realm of leftists politics of having priority towards social equality. Current projects include Treasure Island Skate park. The volunteer community guided skate park will start construction late summer 2009 and is expected to be completed December 2009. Working with the San Francisco Skateboard Association we are pushing for the legalization of skateboarding on the streets and sidewalks in San Francisco. We are dedicated to putting full devotion to the proposals and construction of all skate parks and skate areas in San Francisco, to attend and speak at public meetings as the community’s voice, to educate the public and government on concerns and needs of the San Francisco community, and to build community by collaborating and producing art in any form or representation.

How is Left Side Doing this?

We are doing this by working with The San Francisco Skateboarding association on advocating for skate parks in San Francisco. Filming local artists in any form produce their art. Collaberating with local artists in printing teeshirts. Researching the demographic of skateboarding in San Francisco.

We Stand for the minorities in San Francisco that are leaving due to social and economic problems. Left Side is a political company that represents San Francisco's community. We are dedicated to attending public meetings and speaking for the youth, the skateboarding culture, and ultimately the disadvantaged San Francisco.

The Left Side documentary will be an insight of our city government and how skateboarding politics play a large role in our community. We are portraying that skateboarding is larger than we think. It is the architecture of our city. Skateboarding takes dedication, it challenges the mind, and overall it acts as a relief towards the fast world we live in today.

Left Side is composed of San Francisco natives who feel passionately that S.F. is one the greatest places to live, and skate. We feel that if we can unify the people of San Francisco, we can set the standard for our nation as a peaceful and sustainable society.
